Ardavan Kamkar - Darya (1985)

Ardavan Kamkar is an Iranian santur master, and a santur is a Persian dulcimer. This album is solely performed on this instrument, but the melodies are so entrancing and resonant, that it comes off quite full sounding.
His Middle-Eastern traditional stylings blend smoothly with Bach-like adroitness, and the end result is truly haunting.

right here folks

edit: apparently the second track is corrupt, so here's that.

Assassin (US) - Blitzed Resistance (1985)

Genre - Thrash Metal
Review - Want a piece of thrash metal with tons of riffage and balls? Well! Here they are. You know about Assassin? Probably you do, or probably you do not. Well, let me put this in a better way. Do you know the US thrash band Assassin? Every thrash fan knows about the German stalwarts with the same name that came up with one of the most landmark albums in thrash metal "The Upcoming Terror" in 1986. Well, the US band I am talking about came up with a 3 track demo way back in 1985. I just stumbled upon this band while searching some music on some random blog. There was something about the demo's title "Blitzed Resistance" that prompted me to have a go at it. I at once googled about the band in search of band's history and other albums (if any) released by them. Well, I was a little disappointed not to find anything about them. Still I got it, and thank god I did! Ahem, I have already finished listening to this for the fifth time while I write this review.
So what we have here is a more primitive form of "Bonded By Blood" styled thrash mixed with aggression of early Sepultura. Three tracks of skullcrushing riffs that will probably leave you wanting for more!

ADX - Exécution (1985)

Mesdames et Mesieurs, je vous presente un album d' ADX une bande de speed metal fondé 1982 à Paris!

As most other french heavy metal associated acts ADX sing in their native language which should not bother you if you understand the universal language of speed metal.
This album sounds like the ultimate weapon forged of speed, melody and metal by a bunch of talented musicians who knew that they were capable to cope with the strong international "rivals". They did never reach the fame of Exciter, Razor, Anthrax or Metallica who made it to the top (3 of these 4 by changing to a thrash metal sound) anyway they would have deserved it.

Ulysses Siren - Above the Ashes (2003)

This compilation of Ulysses Siren's demos from 85 and 87 really deserved to be released upon mankind. If you think of other demo compilations like Thrash 'til Death by Slaughter Lord you might firstly think about the bad production which somehow decreases the listening experience, but I can assure you: Above the Ashes has a brilliant production which makes me wonder why still nobody really cares about this band. There are many aspects which actually should have guaranteed these guys a huge success: Their riffing is definitely above average likewise the vocals sound pretty nasty. While listening to this record you get violently pushed through 7 pretty fast and intense thrash tracks which won't annoy you at any time, I personally did never wish to skip even one of these gems.
