Catharsis were an anarchist hardcore band from North Carolina. Heavily influenced by Integrity and Neurosis, they created this strange monster with roaring guitars, pounding rhythms, spoken word passages, and a tormented scream. All of the elements praising and adding an apocalyptic atmosphere. Maybe not the most unique, or unique at all, but it's still some good shit.

Kralizec - Origin

Quirky key-heavy melodically-inclined sometimes-technical death metal with the odd nod to folk metal ala Ensiferum, Brutal Death, and oldschool Gothenburg bands. They also have some of the most blatantly programmed drums I think I've ever heard.

If some of the clean vocal sections sound oddly familiar to you, it's likely because they were contributed by Patrick Loisel (now the frontman of Augury) who also played lead guitar and keys on this album.

This album is ridiculously hard to come by on the interwebs, so I hope you like it.

Mystik Journeymen - The Black Sands Ov Eternia (1999)

Quick History Lesson:

Mystik Journeymen (Sunspot Jonz & Luckiam.PSC) are a hip-hop duo out of Oakland. They formed back in 92'. In 96 they teamed up with 3 Melancholy Gypsys to form the Living Legends crew.

Journeymen dropped Black Sands Ov Eternia in 1999 and it stands as an underground hip-hopclassic. Black Sands has very relaxed atmospheric beats. The lyrics are somewhat average,but the subject matter is refreshing, as the Journeymen don't sing on endlessly about cars and bitches.
